Pulse of the Fashion Industry, 2019Transparency is like water. After the Rana Plaza factory collapsed in Bangladesh [in 2013], transparency started as a slow trickle. It began bubbling up through the cracks. Now it is seeping into some of the darkest corners, permeating the fabric of the industry.
Carry SomersAbout Slow Fashion
My interest in the ethics and sustainability of fashion have taken a surge in recent years as more and more fashion brands have been exposed of their wrong doing. The Fashion Revolution has offered a wonderful platform for education. I strongly believe fashion needs major change. Fashion is about beauty and self expression- the fact that its production can cause major pollution, and such harm, (even death) to the factory workers is completely sickening to me. It is my passion to follow the positive initiatives happening and to help create this discussion and awareness. The dark side of the fashion industry simply can’t be swept under the rug.
